Ecology North volunteers and staff are active in encouraging Yellowknife residents to use sustainable transportation options, and support initiatives by the City of Yellowknife to improve multi-use trail and bicycle infrastructure.

Sustainable transportation activities include the following:

• Support the City of Yellowknife in following up on the Way to Go Yellowknife bike routes and   bike / trail infrastructure reports that have been submitted to the City by the Transportation Issues Committee
• Encourage Yellowknife residents to use public transit and multi-use trails at public events and through youth and public education activities
• Lead a public anti-idling campaign to inform residents about the economic and environmental benefits of reducing vehicle idling in support of the City of Yellowknife anti-idling by-law.
• Initiation of and participation in the City of Yellowknife Transportation Issues Committee

Rent-a-Bike Service

One of the best ways to explore the charms of Yellowknife during the long summer days is by bicycle!  Do you have a visitor staying with you, and need an extra bike?  Is your bicycle currently being repaired?

Ecology North is pleased to now have three trusty ten-speed bicycles (with accompanying helmets and locks) available for rent!
